Mulberry Individual Plan Coverage Overview, Benefits and Your Responsibilities

The following is a summary of Mulberry Protection Plans (MPP) and Mulberry Care (MBC) .

This is a summary of the program terms and conditions which are linked throughout this page. 

Those terms and conditions are the official statement of coverage, exclusions and limitations, and your responsibilities and rights under the program. 

MPP and MBC are not Contracts of Insurance. Mulberry Shield, Inc. issues a service agreement to the consumer.

How do I purchase Mulberry Protection?

How do I activate my Mulberry Protection?

You will receive a welcome email. Please click on the link to create an account. Log in to your dashboard to see your policy and other information.

What is covered?

You are covered for Accidental Damage from Handling and Malfunction of your product. 

There are premium features and additional coverages available. Not all these coverages will be included in your plan. Please see details in Section 1 of the Terms and Conditions, “Your Agreement Information” to determine the coverage in your specific plan. 

When is my product covered? 

Your product is covered from the date of purchase and receipt for Accidental Damage from Handling. 

For malfunction, your product is covered by the manufacturer and in some cases the retailer. Each retailer/manufacturer has their own terms of coverage. A minimum 30-day manufacturer/retailer warranty is required. Coverage for malfunctioning/mechanical failure is provided by MPP and MBC at day 31 from date of purchase.

What does the Mulberry Subscription protect my items from?

You are covered against: 

  • accidental damage
  • mechanical/electrical component failures
  • damage & malfunctions
  • stains & spills (for selected products & types of stains)

Here are some examples:

  • Refrigerator ice maker fails.
  • Clothes washing machine transmission fails.
  • Freezer compressor fails.
  • your new leather jacket gets ripped by accident.
  • Toaster oven element fails to heat adequately.
  • Computer power supply fails.
  • Laptop is dropped and screen cracks.
  • Treadmill control panel fails to operate.
  • Structural failure of a couch.
  • Lamp falls off a table and breaks.
  • Ceiling fan motor fails. Box spring frame breaks.
  • Camera lens is damaged due to accidental damage from handling.
  • Flash unit fails to operate as expected.

What is not covered?

Used Products

Damage that does not impair the proper performance of your product)

Damage caused by 3rd parties (including shipping)

Damage caused by intentional acts

Damage as a result of neglect & misuse & lack of cleaning and care

Malfunction covered by the original manufacturer’s warranty

Damage as a result of weather, acts of God, flooding, wind, fire, etc.

When should I file a claim?

When you experience accidental damage from using your product as a result of a single incident, or if your product fails due to malfunction. 

How do I file a claim?

Go to your Mulberry dashboard, choose the product for which you wish to file a claim, and follow the instructions. You are required to assist Mulberry in its review of your claim and promise not to file fraudulent claims. This includes providing photos and videos of the defective or damaged product. You are required to submit photos.

How much can I claim? 

It depends on the product and its original purchase price. The maximum amount Mulberry will pay is the amount you paid for the product, which is called the “limit of liability.”

Are there deductibles or fees?

You will not be required to pay a deductible nor service fee.

Will Mulberry repair or replace my damaged or malfunctioning product?

Depending on the issue with your product, Mulberry will either repair or replace the products with a similar product of like kind and quality, or you will receive a reimbursement or settlement depending on the extent of the damage/malfunction to the product. It is in Mulberry’s sole discretion as to the method of repair and amount of reimbursement. 

What examples of claims that are not covered?

Loss & Theft are not covered.

Multiple stains or damage to the product not occurring from a single incident are not covered.

Damages caused in shipping or moving (whether by you or a third party) are not covered.

Collision in the case of bikes, ride-ons, etc. is not covered.

Water damage as the result of weathering is not covered.

Fraudulent claims are not covered and will result in reporting of an illegal activity

      1. Provider will repair or replace the covered product, at its discretion, when required due to a mechanical or electrical breakdown, including those experienced during normal wear and tear, as well as a mechanical or electrical breakdown caused by a direct result of a power surge. If food loss occurs as a direct result of a mechanical or electrical defect of a covered refrigerator or freezer, Provider will pay you a one-time reimbursement up to $500. This Agreement does not cover disconnection of appliance(s), nor does it cover the cost of hauling away or disposing of the covered product. This Agreement does not cover the cost of opening or closing walls, floors, or ceilings.

        1. Auto Parts when purchased on a standalone basis, such as batteries (auto, marine, and powersport, trailer), jeep soft tops, and auto parts included in the following categories: air, fuel, emission, exhaust, cooling and heating, electronics and navigation, tools and equipment.

        1. Mechanical Breakdown, Malfunction (no accidental damage due to collision)
      3. Coverage Scenarios
        1. Alternator fails to produce a recharge to a battery. Side view mirror does not adjust electronically. Radiator does not cool properly or leaks.
      4. Excluded Parts & Coverage Scenarios 
        1. Covered Product damaged by abnormal use, misuse, neglect, accident, alteration, modification, or “tampering with”; 
        2. Failure caused by failure of a non-covered product and Diagnostic charges. If the responsibility for the replacement is covered by an insurance policy, manufacturer, recalls, or any other warranty or service contract; 
        3. Any damage that occurs outside the continental United States of America, Alaska, Hawaii or Canada; 
        4. Any cost other than the cost of the qualifying Covered Product;
        5. Incidental or consequential damages even if caused by the failure of the Covered Product
        6. More than one replacement of the same Covered Part
        7. For Automotive / Marine / Powersport Batteries: 
          1. Used or pre-owned products; 
          2. Improper installation or attachments;
          3. Batteries that are merely discharged;
          4. Batteries used in vehicles for commercial use or in trucks over 1 ton;
          5. Labor charges, installation charges, taxes or legislatively imposed fees to remove or replace automotive, motorcycle, marine, or RV parts and accessories or any fees related to the disposal of environmentally unsafe materials;
          6. “No problem found” diagnosis;

Coverage also includes the following services for the Covered Product: refinishing and polishing; rhodium plating white gold; earring repair; chain soldering; resetting diamonds and gemstones; repair of chipped or cracked stones (including center stones); and replacement for loss of diamond or gemstone center stones or side/enhancement stones up to a maximum of 0.50 carat, due to a defect in the setting.

        3. Plan does not cover cleaning, maintenance, or stains and damage caused by normal or ordinary wear-and-tear, including but not limited to: scuffing, scrapes, or other surface abrasions, including pilling or fraying of fabric, and surface scratches on leather;
        4.  The buildup of stains, soil, or damage that accumulates gradually over time from repeated use, rather than from a particular occurrence: This includes, but is not limited to, stains from perspiration, hair oil, or body oil; 
        5. All pre-existing stains or damage to Furniture occurring prior to the Term of this Plan, including stains or damage occurring to floor samples or other Furniture sold “as-is” before delivery;
        6. Odors, including odors that remain after a visible stain is cleaned; 
        7. Stains or damage covered under any maintenance plan, manufacturer’s warranty, extended warranty, homeowner’s or renter’s or other insurance policy or other protection plan;
        8. Stains or damage caused during Furniture delivery, assembly, installation, or transportation are not covered;
        9. Stains or damage caused by water leaks, including those from skylights, roofs, or water pipes;
        10. Appliance malfunctions, including but not limited to air conditioners and water heaters;
        11. Fire, smoke, flood, other natural disaster, or act of God, which are typically covered under a home insurance plan; 
        12. Theft, vandalism, or as a result of any other illegal activity.
